Police pull over a five-year-old on his way to buy a Lamborghini
A Lamborghini loving lad of five was pulled over while driving his mum’s SUV with plans to purchase the Italian supercar.

A Highway Patrol Officer from Utah initially stopped the boy racer as he suspected the driver may be drunk or experiencing a medical emergency.

It wasn’t until the officer approached the stopped car that he discovered the youngster behind the wheel.

The trooper said: “I hit my siren and the car did immediately pull over to the left. I approached the vehicle and I was expecting to find somebody who needed an ambulance or paramedics.

"He was sitting on the front edge of the seat so that he could reach the brake pedal to keep the car stopped while I was standing there"

The five-year-old was believed to be two to three miles into a trip from Ogden, Utah, to California to purchase the luxury vehicle with three dollars – he had decided to take matters into his own hands after his mother refused to buy one of the luxury cars.

The current list price for the cheapest model of Lamborghini is more than $200,000 (£175,000).

After a teary confession, the boy’s parents collected their son and car from the busy Interstate 55 highway.

It later emerged that he had sneaked out of his house while his older sibling slept.

Fortunately, no one was hurt and no property was damaged. The driver and parents will face no further prosecution1.

The young man would have been better suited asking for the UK’s currently best selling car, Little Tike’s Cozy Coupe, rather than the Italian supercar.

Around 85,000 of the toy cars were sold in the space of a month while the next best seller, the Volkswagen Golf shifted 7,103 units.

It’s been a worrying few weeks for vehicle manufacturers as a sales slump brought on by the coronavirus pandemic continued all through April.

There was a record 97.3% fall in new registrations last month as only 4,321 cars were sold – the lowest figure since February 19462.
